In Uttar Pradesh, on Independence Day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appealed to the people of the state to contribute to the growth of the nation and stay away from the forces that want to weaken our nation.

 

Akashvani Correspondent reports that the country’s 80th Independence Day is being celebrated all over the state amid tight security. After unfurling the National flag at Vidhan Bhawan in state capital Lucknow, Chief Minister Adityanath addressed people and said that freedom does not mean merely political independence; it also means complete liberation from the anarchy, backwardness, poverty, illiteracy and inequality that have continually weakened the country.

 

He also paid tributes to the STF officer of UP Police Sunil Kumar, who received Kirti Chakra posthumously. 

 

Deputy Chief Minister of state Keshav Prasad Maurya hoisted the national flag in Prayagraj district while other ministers also attended the Independence Day functions organised in different districts across the state. Ashmita De, the sub-inspector of Uttar Pradesh Police who won gold medal in the recently held Commonwealth Games was felicitated by the DGP of the state at police headquarters in Lucknow. 

 

Many cultural programmes and Prabhat feries and cleanliness drives were organised on this occasion.
