Wall Street ended higher yesterday, after Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said he would be inclined to support holding rates steady barring any surprises in upcoming inflation data. Among the major indices, the Nasdaq Composite surged 1.4 per cent the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.2 per cent, and the S&P 500 gained 1.1 per cent.
On the economic front, the unemployment insurance weekly claims increased by 2,000 to 2 lakh six thousand in the week ending August 29, according to the data released by US Department of Labour.
Market participants closely watch the upcoming nonfarm payrolls data to gauge the Federal Reserve’s next policy stance.
