US approves possible military sale to Saudi Arabia valued at an estimated $ 5 billion

The United States has approved a possible military sale to Saudi Arabia valued at an estimated 5 billion dollar. According to a congressional notification issued by the US State Department, the proposed deal includes thousands of precision-guidance kits and general-purpose bombs, containers, spare parts, support equipment, and technical and logistical services.

The State Department said the proposed sale would advance US foreign policy and national security objectives by strengthening Saudi Arabia’s security.

Washington describes the kingdom as a key force for political stability and economic progress in the Gulf region.

The proposed arms deal comes amid heightened tensions in West Asia, including the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Iran, attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, and renewed activity by Yemen’s Houthi rebels.
