In Badminton, India’s campaign at the Australian Badminton Open 2026 came to an end today after two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu bowed out in the women’s singles semi-finals. Sindhu suffered a straight-games defeat against top seed and world number three Akane Yamaguchi of Japan at the Quaycentre in Sydney.
The tournament’s third seed fought hard in a closely contested opening game before Yamaguchi prevailed 22-20. The Japanese shuttler then dominated the second game to seal a 21-12 victory in the 43-minute encounter and advance to the final.
