Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh today said that the government is focusing on boosting the country’s textile exports by strengthening MSMEs, improving access to finance and expanding export facilitation centers in overseas markets.
The Minister said this after inaugurating the Textile Conclave 2026 in New Delhi. Mr Singh noted the government is working towards taking Indian textile products to more international markets. He added that export facilitation centers are being established in different countries to educate and encourage new exporters.
The Minister said the government is also addressing financial constraints faced by textile businesses. He said the Textiles Ministry has held discussions with the Department of Financial Services and bankers to facilitate greater credit flow to the sector.
Highlighting the employment potential of the industry, Singh said textiles remain among the major employment-generating sectors in the country. He underlined that nearly five crore people have received employment under the sector during the tenure of the current government.
During the conclave, deliberations will take place on emerging technologies in the textile sector. Organised by Laghu Udyog Bharti, the conclave is bringing together over 4 hundred micro and small industries associated with the textile sector from across the country.
