Union Sports Minister participates in cycling event to promote Fit India movement

Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya today participated in the 80th edition of the Fit India Sundays on Cycle initiative in New Delhi. The event was organised in collaboration with the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations to mark the 100th birth anniversary of spiritual leader Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
More than nine thousand people took part in the community run and cycle ride, besides participating in Zumba and Yoga sessions. The initiative aims to promote behavioural change and encourage a more physically active lifestyle.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Mandaviya said cycling helps keep the heart, body and mind healthy. Highlighting its health benefits, the Ministeralso described cycling as a solution to pollution and traffic congestion in cities. He urged people to spend at least one hour away from mobile screens every day and devote that time to physical activity and sports for better health.
