Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to participate in ‘Kissan Chaupal’ at Umra Nangal village in Baba Bakala, Amritsar

Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has reached Punjab to participate in ‘Kissan Chaupal’ at village Umra Nangal in Baba Bakala of Amritsar district and interact with farmers on the occasion of Rakshabandhan. Akashvani Correspondent reports that he first went to Sachkhand Sri Harimandir Sahib (Golden Temple) and prayed for the prosperity of Punjab and the Nation.

He also performed ‘Seva’ at the Golden Temple. Before meeting farmers at the ‘Kissan Chaupal’, he will also pay obeisance at Gurdwara Baba Bakala on the occasion of ‘Rakhar Punnia’. ‘Rakhar Punnia’ is a festival held every year at Baba Bakala, which is not merely limited to the tradition of Raksha Bandhan but also represents a significant milestone in the glorious history of the Sikh faith, as this religiously historical place is related to the ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The Union Minister is likely to address a public programme on this occasion.
