Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan releases over 10,000 crore rupees to 12 states under PMAY-G

Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today released over ten thousand crore rupees to twelve states under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) through video conferencing. These States include Assam, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chouhan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to ensuring that no poor person in the country lives in a kutcha house. He stated that three crore and 91 lakh houses have already been accorded approval under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), against the target of 4.95 crore houses. Mr Chouhan said that the construction of more than three crore houses has been completed. He added that the Central government is continuously working to improve the quality of life of rural families through convergence with various welfare schemes. 
 
Highlighting women’s empowerment, the Union Minister stated that nearly 75 per cent of the houses sanctioned under PMAY-G are either in the name of women or under joint ownership. The Minister observed that some States are yet to complete approvals in line with their 2024-25 and 2025-26 targets and urged them to complete the process by 30th June this year.
