Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi today said that the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana has crossed fifty lakh beneficiary households in India. Addressing the CII International Energy Conference and Exhibition in New Delhi, the Minister highlighted that currently nineteen lakh households are receiving zero electricity bills.
Mr Joshi said that with the scheme, over twelve lakh households have earned four hundred and twenty-one crore rupees by selling the surplus electricity. Talking about the non-fossil capacity, he said that the country is well on the path to achieve the target of 500 gigawatts by 2030. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining close dialogue with industry stakeholders to address sector challenges and pursue new opportunities.
