Union Minister Pralhad Joshi launches WT-MARUT Portal to strengthen Wind Energy Supply Chain

In a major boost to India’s renewable energy sector, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi today launched the Wind Turbine Supply Chain Management (WT-MARUT) Portal during the Global Wind Day 2026 National Conference in Goa.

The WT-MARUT portal, developed jointly by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA), is the country’s first dedicated digital platform aimed at streamlining the wind energy supply chain. The initiative is expected to improve transparency in component sourcing, facilitate easier access to domestic suppliers, and enhance data security, further advancing the government’s vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Addressing the gathering, Joshi highlighted India’s rapid growth in the wind energy sector. He noted that the country added a record 6.1 GW of wind power capacity during FY 2025-26, registering a 46 per cent year-on-year increase. With total installed wind energy capacity surpassing 56.1 GW, India has reinforced its position as the world’s fourth-largest wind energy market.

The minister also stated that exports of wind turbines and related components crossed 12,000 crore rupees during the fiscal year, underlining India’s growing prominence in the global renewable energy industry.

On the occasion, Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Naik reaffirmed India’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions through greater adoption of clean energy technologies.

IWTMA Chairman Girish Tanti said India’s annual manufacturing capacity of nearly 24 GW provides a strong foundation for achieving 15 GW of annual installations by 2030 and expanding the country’s role in the global wind energy supply chain.
