Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal today called upon States and Union Territories to make the  Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign, a people’s movement driven by the spirit of ‘Seva Sankalp’ and Jan Bhagidari. The campaign is being observed from 17th of September to 17th October. Mr Lal today reviewed preparations for the month-long Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign. During the meeting, the Minister emphasised maximum public participation, visible change on the ground and sustained efforts to make Swachhata an integral part of the  Swabhav, Sanskar and Vyavahar. 

 

Reviewing preparations for ‘Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ on 1st October, the Minister advised States to plan large-scale Shramdaan activities in advance and ensure that the cleanliness achieved is sustained beyond the day. The meeting was attended by Urban Development Ministers and senior officials from States and Union Territories. States were encouraged to actively involve local bodies, public representatives, Resident Welfare Associations, youth and social organisations in the campaign. The 50 cities will focus on Visible Cleanliness, Scientific Waste Management, Safe Sanitation and Jan Bhagidari, with outcome-based, technology-enabled monitoring.
