Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has criticised opposition parties for repeated disruptions in Parliament, stating that while the Constitution grants them the right to question, protest, and vote, it neither allows them to disrupt Parliament nor gives the Opposition parties remote control with which they may switch Parliament off whenever their political demands are not accepted.

Writing an article in an English daily today, Mr. Rijiju said that Parliament belongs to the people of India, not political parties. He highlighted instances of government engagement, including discussions on key legislation, while accusing Opposition leaders of rejecting genuine offers for structured debate.
