Union Minister Durga Das Uikey visits Kailashahar and Kumarghat subdivisions in Tripura

Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Durga Das Uikey today visited different areas under Kailashahar and Kumarghat subdivisions in Unakoti district of Tripura. During the visit, the Minister held a meeting with tribal leaders at the Kailashahar Circuit House. He also visited the archaeological site of Unakoti and inspected its historic sculptures and architectural heritage. Officials briefed him on the history and legends associated with the site. Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Amlendu Das, District Magistrate Megha Jain and other senior officials accompanied him.

Later, Mr. Uikey visited an incense stick manufacturing unit run under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission at Dakshin Unakoti TTAADC Village in Kumarghat subdivision. He also inspected a rainwater harvesting centre, Panchayat Resource Centre-cum-Library and a TRLM marketing outlet at Kumarghat block headquarters. The Minister interacted with women associated with Self Help Groups.

Mr. Uikey further visited the Eklavya Model Residential School at Kumarghat and interacted with students, guardians and teachers regarding academic and residential facilities. Speaking to Akashvani, the Minister said the Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to the development of tribal communities and the Northeast region.
