Union Home Minister Amit Shah today paid tributes to great freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak on his death anniversary. In a social media post, Mr Shah said that Lokmanya Tilak was one of the pioneering heroes of the freedom movement who gave a new direction to the Indian struggle for independence through his spirited ideas and exceptional organisational skills.
The Home Minister said the great leader inspired the youth with the resolve of Swaraj and mobilised them to join the freedom movement, while his writings became a powerful voice against British rule. Mr Shah added that Lokmanya Tilak’s life and personality, which ignited the spirit of nationalism through cultural awakening, will continue to inspire generations to always place the nation first.
