UAE condemns Iranian attacks, as a drone is intercepted in UAE territorial waters

The United Arab Emirates has condemned an Iranian attack involving a drone that was intercepted by air defence systems over UAE territorial waters. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said that these hostile attacks constitute a dangerous escalation, an unacceptable act of aggression, and a direct threat to the UAE’s security, stability, and territorial integrity, in violation of the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. The UAE underlined that it will not tolerate any threat to its security and sovereignty and that it reserves the right to respond to these attacks. The Ministry further stressed the need to immediately halt these attacks and ensure full compliance with the cessation of all hostilities.

The UAE also condemned the Iranian attacks targeting Jordan with missiles. It reiterated the UAE’s full solidarity with Jordan and its support for all measures aimed at safeguarding its security and stability.

In another statement, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), also condemned the attacks and called on Iran to immediately halt such attacks and hostile acts. US & Iran exchanged military attacks today, in the first major escalation in almost a month. Oil prices, as seen through Brent crude futures and U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude, rose by 3%, following the latest reports on the escalation.
