UAE announces reduction in petrol & diesel prices for November, despite rising crude prices

The Gasoline and Diesel Prices Follow-up Committee of the UAE has approved a 5.6% reduction in petrol prices and 1.04% reduction in diesel prices for the month of November 2026. The announcement is expected to offer some relief to motorists across the emirates after a sharp increase in fuel prices in October.

The surprise reduction in prices comes against the backdrop of continued volatility in international energy markets, with crude oil prices remaining elevated amid geopolitical tensions and supply disruptions in the region. Crude Oil prices touched a six-month high on Friday, with Brent Crude touching $118 a barrel and WTI settling above $104.

The UAE has followed a market-linked fuel pricing policy since August 2015, when the government deregulated petrol and diesel prices and introduced a mechanism linking domestic rates to international fuel prices. Under this system, a committee reviews global market movements every month and determines prices for the following month. The policy was introduced to align domestic fuel prices with international market trends and to encourage efficient fuel consumption.

Under the revised rates, which will come into effect from November 1, Super “98” petrol will cost AED 4.16 per litre, down from AED 4.40 in October. Special “95” will be priced at AED 4.04, compared with AED 4.28; while E-Plus “91” will cost AED 3.97, against AED 4.21 previously. Diesel prices have also been reduced to AED 4.75 per litre from AED 4.80.

The reduction comes after three consecutive monthly increases in fuel prices, with October witnessing a particularly steep rise. Monthly changes in UAE petrol prices are closely watched by the residents as they have a direct impact on household budgets, with fuel being an essential and recurring expense for many.
