U.S. President Donald Trump praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a strong and effective leader, describing him as one of the world’s most influential figures alongside Chinese President Xi Jinping.
In an interview with an American news portal, Trump said Modi has provided stability to India after years of frequent leadership changes and noted that he has remained in power for more than 12 years.
Discussing U.S.-India ties, Trump said bilateral trade has become fairer and noted that the two countries continue to do significant business together. Trump also described Mr. Modi as highly respected internationally and tougher than his calm public demeanour suggests.
