India has sent humanitarian assistance to Myanmar, Vietnam and Laos in solidarity with people affected by Typhoon Yagi.
External Affars Minister Dr S Jaishankar said in a social media post that ten tons of aid including dry ration, clothing and medicines left for Myanmar onboard INS Satpura today.
Indian Air Force has deployed its C 17 Globemaster aircraft to provide Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief, HADR operations to flood affected Vietnam and Laos.
Thirty five tons of aid comprising of water purification items, water containers, blankets, kitchen utensils, solar lanterns have been sent to Vietnam. Meanwhile, ten tons of aid comprising genset, water purification items, hygiene supplies, mosquito nets, blankets and sleeping bags have been sent to Laos.
Swift and efficient loading and coordination was carried out by C-17 team at Hindan Air Force Station. C 17 Globemaster aircraft are known for their large cargo capacity and long-range capabilities. These are typically used to transport relief materials, essential supplies, and personnel to disaster-affected areas.
