Two-day Suru Festival begins in Kargil, Ladakh

In Ladakh, the 2nd edition of the Suru Festival was inaugurated today at the picturesque Damsna picnic spot in Kargil by Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffar Akhone, in the presence of Executive Councillor for Tourism Altaf Hussain, Secretary Tourism, UT Ladakh Sanjeev Rodricks, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Rakesh Kumar and other dignitaries.
 
Set against the majestic backdrop of the Nun-Kun peaks, the two-day festival is witnessing participation of a large number of visitors from across Ladakh, different parts of the country and some foreign tourists. The event showcases the rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, adventure potential and local traditions of the Suru Valley.
 
The major attractions of the two-day festival include paragliding, river rafting, cycling, angling, cultural programmes, stage shows and various other adventure, recreational and cultural activities, offering visitors a diverse and vibrant experience amid the scenic surroundings of Damsna.
 
The Suru Festival is emerging as an important platform for promoting the tourism potential, cultural heritage, local entrepreneurship and adventure activities of the Suru Valley, while showcasing the region to visitors from across India and abroad.
