The two-day orientation programme for the newly elected MLAs of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly concluded today. Addressing the valedictory session West Bengal Governor R.N Ravi, said the legislators should work to fulfill the aspirations of the electors and they should know the values of the Constitution of India. He urged the Members of the Legislative Assembly to read the debates of the Constituent Assembly of India and know about the federalism, rules and regulations. Referring India as the mother of democracy he said equality, diversity and deliberations of the aspirations of the people are the foundation of any democracy.

Governor R. N Ravi stressed on the upliftment of the quality of education and health. Referring to Ayushman Bharat Yojana, he reminded the MLAs for its correct implementation and said no eligible citizen should be left out from the inclusion into the scheme. The Governor said legislators should connect the farmers with the agriculture universities and krishi vigyan Kendras for the upliftment of the farmers. He said, once Bengal was among the leading states in industrial sector and today it is in shambles. Legislators’ duty is to revive the industry in West Bengal and to even promote MSMEs, food processing, agro based industries and encourage the entrepreneurs.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said, legislators should participate in thoughtful discussion inside the house and they should not disrupt house proceedings only for the sake of opposition. Reminding the audience inside the house about Swami Vivekananda’ death anniversary today, he urged the legislators to work in line with the thoughts of Swamiji and always hear from the common people and work for them.
