The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) today said that two commercial vessels were struck yesterday in the Persian Gulf off Saudi Arabia. UKMTO said one tanker was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade fired from a small boat, while the other was struck by an unidentified projectile. Both crews were safe. No group has claimed responsibility.
Meanwhile, Iran’s state broadcaster said the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported that a supertanker carrying more than 2 million barrels of crude oil struck a naval mine and caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz.
