In Archery, India’s Dhiraj Bommadevara and teenager Kumkum Mohod clinched the gold medal in recurve mixed team event at the World Cup Stage 3 at Antalya in Turkiye today. The Indian duo produced a brilliant display to upset reigning Olympic champions Oh Ye-jin and Kim Je-deok of South Korea 5-1 in the finals. It was the first World Cup gold medal for both Dhiraj and Kumkum in the mixed team event.
Meanwhile, In Men’s Individual event, Dhiraj stuns Paris Olympic medalist Lee Woo Seok of South Korea 6-4 in the final to bag the gold medal. He is now just the third Indian archer to ever win the men’s recurve individual world cup title. It was the first time India had won two gold medals at a single World Cup stage. The performance helped India finish second in medals tally behind China while Korea were pushed to fourth spot. Mexico were third.
