Trump Signals Willingness to Hold Trilateral Talks with Putin and Xi on Ukraine War, Denuclearisation

US President Donald Trump has signalled his willingness to hold a high-stakes trilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss ending the war in Ukraine and pursuing global denuclearisation, even if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is excluded from the negotiations. Speaking to reporters at the White House before departing for Kansas, Trump said he would be willing to meet with the Russian and Chinese leaders to help broker peace and curb nuclear proliferation. Earlier on Sunday, an American newspaper reported that Putin had proposed holding a trilateral summit with Trump and Xi next month to discuss the Ukraine conflict, with the aim of negotiating a peace deal favourable to Moscow.
