Road accidents and fatalities in Tripura have declined significantly due to joint initiatives by the Transport and Police Departments and targeted action plans, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.
The Chief Minister said protecting human lives remains the government’s highest priority. He highlighted the PM RAHAT scheme, which provides financial rewards of up to Rs. 25,000 to Good Samaritans who help accident victims, along with cashless treatment of up to Rs. 1.5 lakh under Ayushman Bharat and CM-JAY.
He was speaking at a programme organised for distributing essential road safety equipment under the Road Safety Fund at the Police Ground in A.D. Nagar, Agartala, today.
Dr Saha stressed the importance of technology-driven traffic enforcement, modern safety measures and strict implementation of traffic rules to ensure safer roads and smooth public mobility.
Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Urban Development Secretary Milind Ramteke and officiating Director General of Police G.S. Rao were among those present.
