In Tripura, in a major success against drug trafficking, the Excise Department seized 898 kilograms of cannabis during a special operation on the Mohanpur-Khowai National Highway. According to officials, the seizure was made yesterday near Borpukur SB School in Hezamara after a Kamalpur-bound truck was intercepted and searched. During the inspection, excise personnel recovered 135 packets of cannabis weighing a total of 898 kilograms from a concealed compartment inside the vehicle’s fuel tank.
The estimated market value of the seized contraband is approximately ₹4.49 crore. The truck driver has been arrested in connection with the case. The Excise Department stated that a case has been registered under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway.
