Tripura CM sends pineapples to Bangladesh PM as annual tradition of goodwill gesture

 
Continuing the annual tradition of exchanging seasonal gifts, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha sent 600 premium Queen variety pineapples as a goodwill gesture to Bangladesh Prime Minister Tareq Rahman. The consignment crossed into Bangladesh through the Akhaura Integrated Check Post near Agartala today.
 
Tripura Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department Secretary Apurba Roy, Director Dr. Phanibhushan Jamatia, Consultant Dr. Rajib Ghosh, Santanu Debbarma, Land Ports Authority of India official Debashish Majumdar and other officials were present during the handover. Officials from the Assistant High Commission of India in Chattogram, including Assistant Consular Officer Pankajjyoti Das and Sajib Chakraborty, also attended.
 
After completing the required customs formalities, the pineapple cartons were formally handed over at the Zero Point before being transferred to Bangladeshi vehicles.
 
Apurba Roy said the gesture reciprocates the recent gift of mangoes sent from Bangladesh and reflects the shared commitment to strengthening friendly bilateral ties. Dr. Jamatia added that 100 cartons, each containing six Queen pineapples, were sent as the official gift.
