Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and Union Minister of State for DoNER Dr. Sukanta Majumdar today inaugurated the three-day Tripura Global Pineapple Festival at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi.

In his address, the Chief Minister said Tripura produces around 1.78 to 1.87 lakh metric tonnes of pineapples annually, including nearly 23,000 metric tonnes of GI-tagged Queen pineapples for market supply.

He described the fruit as a symbol of the state’s cultural heritage and agricultural strength, saying the initiative will boost exports and promote Tripura’s culture, handicrafts, and tourism globally.

Dr. Sukanta Majumdar highlighted the ₹236-crore Mission Queen Pineapple, aimed at increasing the fruit’s economic value from ₹35 crore to ₹200 crore by 2028, while strengthening rural incomes and export potential.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his greetings, expressing confidence that the festival will open new avenues for trade and investment under the vision of Viksit Bharat.
