In UK, a train driver was killed, and 89 people were injured, nine of them critically, after two trains collided near Bedford.
The crash involved two East Midlands Railway (EMR) services, with one train striking the rear of the other while both were travelling on the same line yesterday evening.
One of the trains involved in the accident had departed from Corby, while the other had left Nottingham. Both services were bound for London St Pancras when the collision occurred.
Speaking at a press conference, British Transport Police Chief Constable Lucy D’Orsi said that the family of the deceased train driver had been informed and she expressed her deepest condolences to them.
