Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has said that the primary aim of the tourism sector is to increase the stay period of tourists, create more jobs, support the local economy and enhance the overall experience of the tourists. Addressing the World Tourism Day Celebration in New Delhi today, Mr Shekhawat said, amid global economic uncertainties and shifting travel trends, travelers are still seeking immersive and authentic experiences over traditional sightseeing. Highlighting the theme of this year’s World Tourism Day, he noted that modern travelers rely heavily on mobile devices, AI-driven tools, and social media platforms rather than traditional travel guides to plan their journeys.
