High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Gopal Bagley has said tourism promotes people-to-people ties. He was speaking at the 67th convention of the Travel Agents Association of India being held at Colombo.

The High Commissioner laid stress on the role of religion in promoting tourism and gave examples of Buddhist and Ramayana Circuits in India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.

Mr. Bagley informed the Indian travel congress about the efforts to boost tourism undertaken by the two countries including the resumption of flight connectivity to Jaffna as well as the work towards ferry services between Nagapattinam and Jaffna.
