Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu has said the market situation in the 2025-26 FCV tobacco auctions is improving, with stronger buyer competition and fewer no-bid lots.
He said 86.59 million kilograms had been sold in 132 auction days till September 4, against the authorised crop size of 142 million kilograms. The average price so far is 209 rupees 83 paise per kilogram, compared with 248 rupees 86 paise last year.
The Minister said excess production had created a surplus and affected prices. However, no-bid lots have declined by 11 to 12 percent, and to below two percent at some centres. The government is coordinating with the Tobacco Board and stakeholders to improve purchases and protect farmers’ interests, he added.
