In Tamil Nadu, a Special Court in Tiruppur has sentenced 25 Bangladeshi labourers to two years of imprisonment for illegal stay in India. The workers were staying without valid documents while employed at a textile company in Palladam in Tiruppur district. During the investigation, they were found to be in possession of identity cards indicating their Bangladeshi nationality. A case was subsequently registered by the police and was heard in the Special Court, which delivered the verdict yesterday.
