Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal has said that three Indian-flagged crude oil tankers carrying over 8.6 lakh metric tonnes of cargo with 94 Indian crew members successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz yesterday and are en route to India.
These oil tankers are Desh Vaibhav, Desh Vibhor and Sanmar Herald. In a social media post, Mr Sonowal said that under the decisive leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government is working on the highest priority to secure India’s maritime interests. Mr Sonowal said his Ministry is actively coordinating with all relevant agencies to guarantee the absolute safety of India’s seafarers and energy lifelines.
