The government today denied that there is a shortage of faculty members in the Higher Education sector in the country. This information was given by the Minister of State for Education Dr. Subhas Sarkar in the Rajya Sabha.
He said a total of 13 thousand 282 vacancies have been filled up in the Central Higher Educational Institutions under the Mission Recruitment drive. The minister said the vacancies arise due to retirement, resignation, and additional requirements on account of enhanced students’ strength. The institutions also recruit ad-hoc faculty, invite guest lecturers, and visiting faculty, and conduct Faculty Development programmes ensuring optimal faculty strength and smooth running of classes.
