10th edition of India Mobile Congress to showcase country’s remarkable progress in telecommunications

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 10th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi tomorrow. The India Mobile Congress is scheduled to be held from 7th to 10th of this month. It will showcase India’s remarkable progress in telecommunications, digital connectivity and technological innovation, while providing a global platform for collaboration, investment and knowledge exchange. The theme of IMC 2026 is Scale Without Boundaries, reflecting India’s growing capabilities in digital innovation, next-generation connectivity and technology-led growth. The four days event, which began today, is being jointly organised by the Department of Telecommunications and the Cellular Operators Association of India.

The event will focus on innovation and next-generation digital infrastructure, technology-led economic growth, inclusive digital access, and the development of secure and resilient digital ecosystems. IMC 2026 has  brought together global technology leaders, policymakers, industry experts, startups, investors and innovators to explore emerging opportunities across the digital ecosystem. The 2026 edition will cover nine established anchor sectors, including 5G and 6G, next-generation AI networks, semiconductors, non-terrestrial networks, cyber security, quantum communication, enterprise transformation, circular economy and ESG, and electronics manufacturing. The event will also expand its sectoral focus to four new domains – smart mobility, stadium experiences, industrial robotics and transport technology. The event will attract more than 1.5 lakh attendees from over 100 countries, with participation from over 500 partners and exhibitors, 600 startups and 900 thought leaders.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also interacted with Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) Board members at Seva Teerth in New Delhi ahead of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026. GSMA is a global organisation unifying the mobile ecosystem, representing mobile operators and organisations across the mobile ecosystem and adjacent industries. During the interaction, the Prime Minister emphasised that technology must become a tool for inclusive and sustainable development. He underlined the need to make technology and digital services affordable and accessible, particularly for the Global South. Prime Minister Modi also highlighted the potential of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) as a transformative force, particularly for developing countries. Addressing the growing challenge of digital and cyber fraud, Mr Modi said the problem requires technology-driven solutions. He suggested sustained awareness messages for users to warn people about potential fraud calls.
