Technologies must move out of laboratories to be translated into products & solutions, says Science Minister

 
 
 
Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today said the Technology Development Board has an important role in ensuring that technologies developed in laboratories are translated into products, solutions and enterprises. 
 
Addressing the 30th Foundation Day celebrations of the Technology Development Board in New Delhi, Dr Singh said, technology development should ultimately create livelihoods and contribute to the overall growth of the economy. The Minister highlighted that there is a need for a change in mindset towards research and innovation and called for greater participation of the private sector and philanthropy in supporting research. Dr Singh said, the country has created a strong startup ecosystem and highlighted the growing contribution of startups from tier two and tier three cities.
 
He also emphasized the importance of collaboration and resource pooling in emerging sectors, including space, biotechnology and nuclear technology. Dr Singh said, India is moving towards greater technological self-reliance and the Technology Development Board can play an important role in strengthening this ecosystem and contributing to India’s economic growth and global standing.
