President Droupadi Murmu has greeted teachers across the country on the eve of Teachers’ Day. In her message, the President said that Teachers’ Day is observed to mark the birth anniversary of former President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a great author and philosopher. President Murmu paid her tributes to Dr Radhakrishnan and described him as an extraordinary teacher. The President said teachers play a vital role in nurturing talent and strengthening character through their guidance and mentorship. Expressing her gratitude to all the dedicated teachers for their contribution, she wished that all teachers would nurture enlightened generations who will take the nation to greater heights.

The President will confer National Teachers Awards on 48 school teachers in New Delhi tomorrow on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. The 48 selected school teachers are from 27 States, seven Union Territories and six Organizations of the Central Government.
