Tamil Nadu School Minister Rajmohan has said that the State Government has been in contact with the Union Government and officials of the External Affairs Ministry in Nepal to bring back the tourists from the state who have been stranded in Nepal due to floods.

In a statement in the Assembly, the Minister said that more than 900 calls were received by the Control Room at the Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi. He said that Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will lead an urgent meeting on the issue and find ways to bring back those affected in the devastating floods. He said that the havoc caused in Nepal was tremendous and efforts are being taken to trace the missing tourists from Tamil Nadu.

He said that a total of 103 tourists from various parts of the State are being traced by the Government. He said that one group of 57 tourists had gone from the delta districts and there was information that 20 of them are safe in temporary shelters but the fate of the 37 people are not known including the former Justice Sivagnanam. He assured that the Government would take all efforts to bring them back.
