In Tamil Nadu, the Social Justice Minister, Vanni Arasu, today said that the State Government has provided Overseas Higher Education Scholarship Scheme to 362 students.

Replying to a call notice at the Assembly, the Minister said that the Government had approved 131 Crore rupees for the scheme in which selected students from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe are pursuing Masters and Ph. D programs abroad under the scheme. He said that 500 students had applied for the scholarship. Out of which 362 students were selected.

The Minister also told that student visas with regard to those who have been selected to study abroad on scholarship are efficiently handled by the top officials of the Department.
