Tamil Nadu Finance Minister N Marie Wilson Presents TVK Government’s First Budget

Tamil Nadu Finance Minister N Marie Wilson today presented the TVK government’s first Budget in the Assembly. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s government has set a target of becoming a 1.5 trillion dollar economy by 2031. With a deficit of 78,324 crore rupees and outstanding debt exceeding 10.43 lakh crore rupees, the Government has set a growth target for another 15 years with a growth rate of 9 percent. 
 
The government has targeted 15,000 crore rupees additional revenue. It has constituted a committee headed by M.S. Ahluwalia to advise on existing programs and also to deliver the benefits and the outcomes. The government is expected to reduce the financial burden to plug leakages.
 
The Finance Minister said that the Government has adopted ways and methods to eradicate red tapism in all the departments. The welfare schemes include housing, health, care for senior citizens, women, school and higher education, agriculture and industries. The Government has also announced an increase in green cover and the adoption of sustainable methods in all sectors.
