Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay today said that the Government will not give up its demand for the rightful share of water in Karnataka. Reacting to the Calling attention motion brought by the DMK, he said that his Government was not interested in politicising but rather believed in action. Quoting several instances where the Government had reiterated the rightful share of water in the Cauvery, he said that the Government never failed to take legal action, appealing to the Centre to impress upon Karnataka over the Mekadatu issue.
Earlier, calling attention to the motion, State Opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin urged the Government to convene an all-party meeting on the issue so that all parties could show up as a united front. Former Chief Minister E.Palanichamy said that the delta districts should be announced as drought-hit districts. PMK leader Sowmya Anbumani, CPI and CPI(M) also spoke on the attention-calling motion.
