Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay today launched the breakfast scheme for school students from Class 6 to 8th Std in Government schools all over the State. Around 15.30 lakh more students in 15 thousand 454 Government and aided schools will benefit from the expanded Kamarajar Breakfast scheme.

Chief Minister launched the scheme at the Government Middle School in Gandhi Gramam, Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai. An additional fund of 217 .63 crore rupees has been allocated in the current financial year to support the expansion, elevating the budget for the program to 724 Crore rupees. The scheme will not be implemented in Chengalpet and Tiruppur districts due to the model code of conduct for by elections.
