The Tamil Nadu Assembly today urged the Central Government for a clear inclusion of the caste based census to get a vivid picture of the communities and their social status. Speaking on the resolution, the members suggested the census model of the Justice Party was a comprehensive one.
Minister for Public Works Department Adhav Arjuna said that the exercise should benefit every citizen in the State and also evolve a method to identify and include the benefits of the Government to them. He said that there has been no clear-cut identification on the caste-based census, which means that there was only a general classification which would undermine the importance of SC/STs, OBCs and MBCs.
He said that the drop box in the 40 questions in the census form did not have a facility to include the concerned divisions. The members said that the census would be in vain and will lack a clearer vision to help the people.
