Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil, along with Minister of State for Jal Shakti V Somanna and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu, today launched the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026. The theme of this campaign is Swachhata Mein Sahbhag; Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat. Addressing the media during the curtain raiser press conference this evening, Mr Patil said this year’s Swachhata Hi Seva campaign is centred around five key pillars. The five pillars include transformation of cleanliness target units and clean public places, Swachh Paathshala: Yuva for Swachhata, SafaiMitra Suraksha Evam Samman Shivir, Jan Bhagidari for Swachhata, and Swachhata Se Samriddhi.
The Minister said, on the occasion of world tourism day, special focus will be on cleaning of tourist sites including high footfall areas, and tourist centric beaches. On 1st October, simultaneous voluntary shramdaan and cleanliness drives across the country will be held under Ek Din, Ek Ghanta and Ek Saath will be organised. This year’s campaign aims to mobilise citizen action and ownership for Swachhata, adopting a Whole of Government and Whole of Society approach, with a focus on shared responsibility, sustained cleanliness and participation across rural and urban India. Sharing the last year’s campaign achievement, Mr Patil said around 18 crore people participated in Swachhata Hi Seva campaign 2025, including 13.91 crore participants in rural India and 4.53 crore in urban India.
