In Sudan, 10 artisanal miners have been killed and 21 others injured after five mining shafts collapsed in the Oni area of Red Sea State in the eastern part of the country. The Sudanese Mineral Resources Company has confirmed the mine collapse. The accident occurred on Saturday when adjacent underground shafts collapsed one after another, burying miners under rock and soil. Difficult access to parts of the mining site has hampered rescue operations and made it difficult to determine the exact number of missing miners.
