Sri Lanka’s National Election Commission sets expenditure limits for candidates and parties ahead of parliamentary election

In Sri Lanka, the National Election Commission has announced the expenditure limits allowed for candidates and parties, ahead of the upcoming Parliamentary election.

       

The limits allowed for candidates, parties, independent groups and national list candidates vary depending on the districts.

       

Accordingly, the highest limit has been permitted at Colombo electoral district with limit for candidates set at 5.75 Million rupees while a limit of almost 79.5 Million rupees has be prescribed for parties.

       

On the other hand, limits have been set at the lowest for Vanni electoral districts at 1.67 million rupees for candidates and 9.91 million rupees for parties.

       

The general election is slated for 14th of November in which 17 million voters will vote to elect 225 Parliamentarians.
