Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake congratulates PM Modi on historic milestone

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Wednesday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history, highlighting the strength of bilateral ties. In a message shared on X, he noted that Sri Lanka “values our close partnership” with India and expressed confidence in further deepening cooperation across sectors.

The message comes amid continued engagement between the two neighbours on economic recovery, connectivity, and regional security. India has been a key partner in Sri Lanka’s recent stabilisation efforts, providing financial assistance and development support. The latest gesture underscores the diplomatic warmth and strategic importance both sides attach to their relationship.
