Union Minister of Sports Mansukh Mandaviya has said that the government is committed to provide all kinds of facilities to the athletes and coaches so that players can get better training. Mr. Mandaviya said the government is developing sports infrastructure of international standards for the athletes so that they can perform better in sporting events.
Mr. Mandaviya said this while felicitating the Paris Paralympic athletes who returned to New Delhi today. The athletes, who were felicitated were gold medal winner Avani Lekhra, silver medal winners Manish Narwal and Pranav Soorma, and bronze medalists Mona Aggarwal, Rubina Francis, and Rakesh Kumar.
He also lauded the parathletes for their stellar performance in the Paris Paralympics saying that they have brought laurels to the country and created history by winning 27 medals including 6 Golds, 9 Silver and 12 Bronze so far.
Avani Lekhara, who has won a gold medal in Paris Paralympics in the shooting event said that her journey to this Olympics was difficult and was tougher than the last time.
Another athlete, Rubina Francis who won Bronze in the Paris Paralympics said that she never felt alone in this journey as there was a whole team behind every medal.
