Union Home Minister Amit Shah has congratulated para-athlete Sharmila Dhankhar on winning India’s first gold medal in para-athletics at the Commonwealth Games. In a social media post, Mr Shah praised her stellar performance in the women’s shot put F57 event and stated that it is a testament to India’s unwavering spirit.

Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya also congratulated Sharmila Dhankar. In a social media post, Dr Mandaviya noted that with this victory, Sharmila became country’s first-ever Commonwealth Games Gold medallist in Para Athletics. The Minister added that her indomitable spirit has made the entire nation proud on the global stage.
