Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr Mansukh Mandaviya will inaugurate the BRICS Traditional and Indigenous Sports Demonstration Games 2026 in Ahmedabad on Monday.

 

The Games are being organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Gujarat Government under India’s BRICS Chairship. It will bring together delegations from BRICS Member and partner countries to showcase traditional and indigenous sporting practices. The Ministry said that the games will also promote cultural exchange, heritage preservation and people-to-people cooperation through sport. It added that designed as a non-competitive platform, the Games will focus on the demonstration, documentation, and exchange of traditional sporting practices.

 

The Ministry also informed that bilateral meetings with visiting delegations are planned on the sidelines of the event. These meetings are aimed at exploring opportunities to strengthen cooperation in sports and promote traditional and indigenous games within the BRICS framework.
